Løvemammaene meet with the SV at the Storting

Løvemammaene were invited by the Norwegian People's Party (SV) to a dialogue meeting at the Storting. The SV wanted input from Løvemammaene regarding their health policy. They wanted to hear about the challenges our members face and what political measures Løvemammaene believe are important.

Elin Gunnarsson, deputy chair of the central board, and Janne Fjelde Thu, new project manager for Bære Sammen and board member of the central board, participated from Løvemammaene. They addressed several issues that our members face, including the large differences between municipalities when it comes to health and care services. They emphasized that there must be clearer guidelines in the legislation to reduce interpretations, as well as fewer opportunities for the municipality to override statements from the specialist health service when assessing the allocation of services. They also addressed the importance of municipalities being allocated more funds to be able to meet the needs of their residents. Today, more and more children are being rescued who return home with both serious and complex conditions where early intervention is crucial for further development. Many also return home with advanced home hospitals. These children need comprehensive municipal services that are difficult for many municipalities to obtain due to their financial situation.

Another important issue that was discussed is the strengthening of child palliative care teams in health authorities and that these teams must be connected as soon as a palliative condition is confirmed. Janne and Elin also raised the need for a bereavement notice to be established. Parents who lose their lion cub often go through complex and prolonged grief reactions. Løvemammaene believe that there is a great need for a different solution than sick leave, which is now 4 weeks after the child dies.

The representatives from SV were committed and understanding of the challenges our members face. It was a good and constructive meeting that we hope will help shape SV's health policy in the future.

Løvemammaene thank you for a nice meeting with the representatives from SV!
