National status on companion certificate

Over time, the Løvemammaen have worked hard to get the lower age limit for companion certificates removed in all the country's municipalities. It has produced results.

Our regional teams have sent out several requests to remove the age limit to all the country's municipalities and many have responded to us quickly and positively that they have taken note of the request and removed the age limit. But then there are also some who have not responded and then we have been nagging, getting answers from some more, nagging again, getting further answers, nagging with a stern tone, writing articles in the local newspapers of the relevant municipalities and nagging once more. In January, Bufdir changed its guidelines for companion certificates to be without age limit as well. So we again purred on the municipalities that remained. Even more municipalities removed the age limit. Nevertheless, a few still remain.

Perhaps most surprising in this process is that Gjøvik, Vestre Toten and Østre Toten municipality together chose to raise the age limit (yes, you read that right!) from 8 to 10 years, despite requests and revised guidelines from the national directorate Bufdir. Simply hair-raising!

But, we won't give up until the last municipality is in the box! The goal is for Norway to have no age limit at all by the end of the year. Our regional teams continue to admonish and pressure the municipalities that are in doubt about the age limit, or that lack/have incorrect information on their websites.

Anyway, here is a preliminary status from our regional teams on the fruits of our work and which municipalities remain.

We update the list continuously, and you can check when the overview was last updated below.
