Gamify – alternative training arena

What is Gamify?

Gamify is an alternative training arena that uses computer games in academic and environmental therapeutic work with students. The alternative training area has been developed in collaboration between the companies Jobloop and Playwell. The target group the project is successful with are pupils with involuntary school absences or who do not benefit from ordinary teaching, but have an interest in computer games. Gamify is an arena with a focus on being social, building a sense of mastery, a desire to learn and motivation for working with subjects. We adopt game pedagogy and use gaming as a motivator and as a starting point for working with the student's IEP.

What did?

When the students come to Gamify, they carry out a survey and draw up an individual follow-up plan in collaboration with the school. In this way, the student receives close and individually arranged follow-up by the gaming educator, where they work with the students in three ways

They use computer games to work on achieving academic learning goals (such as Civilization in history, Minecraft in maths and short story games in language subjects such as Norwegian and English). This is game pedagogy.

They work socially and environmentally therapeutically with the use of collaborative games (such as Fortnite, Minecraft, keep talking and nobody explodes). This is gaming pedagogy.

They use games to learn work life skills such as coding, design and video editing. This often results in increased motivation, mastery and self-esteem among the students. This is organized work training.

Who can use the offer?

To get started, the student must have a decision on the use of the alternative training arena. This is done through an expert assessment from PPT and is important to ensure quality in the student's education. They assist the school in the process to ensure an informed decision that is in the best interest of the student.
